Dear menopausal sisters,
If you are between your late 40's and mid 60's and your are already being tormented by hot flashes and night sweats...
If lately, your libido has been decreasing...
If uncontrollable mood swings are making your life a living hell... robbing you of a good relationships with your family and friends... ,
you are probably being in the menopause phase of your life.
These are true confessions and stories of some of my friends and this generally happens when they are between age 45 to 55 years old.
I'm just pleased to share with them most of the information knowledge and experience that whatever I access from books reading, blogging and the advice from my physicians and medical professional.
And now, I would like to go through the article review and write on my own blog on "How to Preserve your Quality of Life after Menopause" because "Happiness is to Share"!
Recently I attended a lecture about menopause in Kuala Lumpur presented by a 25 years practice doctor by the name Dr. Lee. The following is part of her organized speech:
"First of all, what is menopause?
To be precise, the menopause is the last menstrual period a woman has. This generally happens when a woman is about 50 years old, but may occur a few years earlier or later. So, it's actually that brief time in a women's life when her ability to have a baby finally comes to an end. In another words, menopause is a transitional period between a woman's childbearing years and her non-childbearing years. The stage of life after the last menstruation is called the post menopause. In fact, when the menopause arrives, there are no more eggs released by the ovaries. The production of the female ovarian hormones ( ovaries which produce the main sex hormones, predominantly estrogen and progesterone) also rapidly decreases during this period and gradually stops producing estrogen.
So there's more to the menopause than just then end of periods. What is really happened is that those hormones which programme the monthly reproductive cycle are now no longer produced.
The menopause is virtually always preceded by a time in which the periods or monthly bleeding becomes irregular, either heavier or lighter; the menstruation is no longer exactly on time. This continues until menstruation stops altogether.
As you have to know the menopause is on its way when periods become irregular, and other symptoms become distressingly apparent like :
Hot flushes
Night sweats
Vaginal dryness
Reduced libido (sex drive)
Sleeplessness
Fatigue
Depression
Mood swing and so on...
However, menopause is not a disease that spells fatality and dread. Every year there are millions of women who go through this the world over. The only difference is how they go through menopause. The choice is in your hands to seek the relief that is readily available."
